Medical Staff Meeting with guest speaker, Dr. Kate Kellogg. She is renown Human Factors in Healthcare specialist from MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She will be addressing how human factors play a role in our care delivery and how we can better identify and address these problems so we can deliver safer care.

1. Discuss key concepts in human factors engineering, including cognitive load, situational awareness, and system design
2. Identify practical strategies to design safer, more reliable care processes that account for human limitations
3. Describe methods to identify and mitigate latent safety threats within their own clinical environments
4. Apply principles of high-reliability organizations to improve teamwork, communication, and patient outcomes
5. Recognize how system flaws—not just individual errors—contribute to adverse events
