Overview
This educational offering will describe efforts to increase outpatient naloxone prescribing and access for patients at increased risk of an opioid overdose.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe what naloxone is and to whom it should be prescribed
  2. Identify who can order naloxone in the outpatient setting and how
  3. Describe how the Epic naloxone best practice advisory identifies patients at high risk of opioid overdose and makes it easy to prescribe naloxone

Naloxone Education

This educational activity features a program on prescribing and evaluating the patient with or needing a Naloxone prescription. 

Expiration: This enduring material activity was published on November 10, 2021. This enduring material activity qualifies for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM for 13 months following its publication.  Content was reviewed for validity on 12/31/2022 and credit renewed until 11/10/2024.

Requirements: Read the overview, complete the Pre-Test, open/read the journal article(s) complete the Post-Test, and complete the evaluation form in order to receive credit for this activity. The post-test requires a score of 80% to pass with 3 attempts to successfully complete the post-test.

enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirement(s) of the American
