Overview

Addiction is a disease that can be treated, and this podcast will help you stay up to date with the latest research that you can use in your addiction medicine practice. In this episode of Addiction Medicine Journal Club we discuss an article exploring the association between tapering long-term high-dose opioids, and subsequent opioid overdose and mental health crises.

In our introduction we discuss the book The Least of Us: True Tales of America and Hope in the Time of Fentanyl and Meth by Sam Quinones (htt12s://samguinones.com/), and the self exclusion program in Pennsylvania for gambling disorder.

If you want to learn more about the self-exclusion program, you can go to htt12s://res12onsible12lay .. 12a.gov/self-exclusion/ .

I also mention a case study I wrote on a method for tapering long-term, high-dose opioids, which can be read here: htt12s://www.cureus.com/articles/73505-use-of-a-sim12le-12ainassessment-tool-in-a-shared-decision-making-a1mroach-to-ta12ering-chronic-high-doseQRioids
