Overview
Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the reported leading cause of maternal mortality worldwide. In the US, PPH increased by 26% from 1994 to 2006. This educational event is designed to reinforce utilization of the postpartum hemorrhage cart, and staff knowledge and competence in use of the Bakri balloon placement.

Objectives
  1. Discuss risk factors for postpartum hemorrhage
  2. Define postpartum hemorrhage due to uterine atony and cite how to approach treatment with appropriate medical management.
  3. Demonstrate teamwork and communication skills during a simulated postpartum hemorrhage
