Act 31 of 2014 requires that all health care providers licensed or certified by the Department of State must complete three hours of an approved mandated reporter training for license application and two hours for license renewal. A mandated reporter under the PA Child Protective Services Law is an independent contractor or person affiliated with an agency, institution, organization, or other entity that has direct contact with children, including care, supervision, guidance, control, routine interaction; or who is providing a program, activity, or service involving minors.


Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant should be able to:

  1. Identify the role of child protection
  2. Recognize potential risks/indicators of child abuse/neglect
  3. Describe role of mandated reporter
  4. Explain referral process and follow up
  5. Identify prevention resources
