Overview

Service lines grand rounds is a monthly CME program, providing service lines a platform to introduce their leadership, highlight specialty educational updates relevant to all (or most) physicians and providers, quality initiatives that may affect other service lines or be modeled by other service lines, and resources available within the service line that may be relevant to a broad audience. We do not want to use this program as an opportunity for administrative updates or a laundry list of available services.

Goals:
Review the financing of psychiatry services and the impact on services provided
Follow the development of emergency psychiatry in the US
Identify the most common disorders treated in emergency department settings



Objective(s): 1 Discuss the development of emergency psychiatry as a discipline. 2 Identify how Pennsylvania’s financing structure impacts emergency psychiatry care. 3 Discuss the three most popular models of emergency psychiatry care in the US.
