Overview

This is an online course that leads the provider through everything they need to know to prescribe buprenorphine for opioid use disorder in a primary care setting. It reviews setting up a clinical practice prescribing buprenorphine, using resources within the WellSpan system to schedule patients, and clinical situations that may be faced.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this presentation, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe how to apply for their DEA-X waiver to prescribe buprenorphine
  2. Discuss how to liaise with the director of WellSpan Recovery Support and arrange for collaboration with a Recovery Support Specialist
  3. Identify how to use Epic resources to improve documentation and make shortcuts to required diagnosis and billing codes
  4. Describe how to download and prepare patients handouts for their first buprenorphine visits
  5. Discuss how to coordinate with their practice manager regarding in-office urine drug screens and new visit types
  6. Identify complex buprenorphine prescribing scenarios and troubleshoot solutions for these scenarios.

It reviews setting up a clinical practice prescribing buprenorphine, using resources within the WellSpan system to schedule patients, and clinical situations that may be faced.

Expiration: This enduring material activity was published on 09/20/22 and qualifies for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit TM .  It was reviewed for content on February 5, 2023, and has been renewed for until September 20, 2025.  Credit for this course will only be awarded once.

Requirements: Read the overview, complete the Pre-Test, view the interactive content, complete the Post-Test, and complete the evaluation form in order to receive credit for this activity. The post-test requires a score of 65% to pass (allowing 3 attempts to successfully complete).
